Rev. Michael (M.L.) Louis Cherry II was born on July 2, 1991 in Washington DC, to Parents Pastor Michael Louis Cherry I and Esther Morlu Cherry. From birth weighing in at 11lbs and 13 ounces, you knew right away that the hand of God was on this child’s life.

He grew up in the Pentecostal Evangelical Church in Palmer Park, Maryland under the Leadership of Bishop Dennis Jefferson, where his love for God, people, and music was noticed at an early age. He became the Church’s main Drummer at just 3 years old. At 8 years old, his parents transitioned membership to Gateway Baptist Church under Pastor Diana L. Dunn in Temple Hills, Maryland where his father Elder Cherry, I. became the Assistant Pastor.

At 9 years old, Rev. M.L. Cherry gave his life to the Lord and received the gift of the Holy Spirit while sitting in the back room of a Church Anniversary Service. The hand of God became so strong on his life that he was asked to preach his First Sermon at Gateway Baptist Church. His sermon was entitled “A touchdown for Jesus”. Pastor Dunn wanted to formerly License him to Preach the Gospel at 9, however due to having loving parents, Elder and Lady Cherry, wanted to allow “Lil Mike” as he is affectionately known, to enjoy his youth and childhood.

At 13 years old, Rev. Cherry was given the opportunity to become a full time Drummer on staff at the New Macedonia Baptist Church in Washington D.C. under the extraordinary Leadership of the Legendary Rev. Patrick J. Walker. It was at New Macedonia through Pastor Walker, where Rev. Cherry developed a passion for Church Administration and Leadership.

At 19, years old, the public affirmation of the call on Rev. Cherry’s life was officially affirmed. From age 9-19, Rev. Cherry was called upon throughout the DC metro area to Preach Youth Services, Sunday morning services, under the direct permission from his pastor. He was officially Licensed to Preach the Gospel on June 26th, 2011 under the Leadership of his father, Pastor Michael L. Cherry, I (Great is thy Faith Ministries, Inc.)

Since the public affirmation into the Gospel ministry, Rev. Cherry was later Ordained at the age of 22 in his home church the Garden of Prayer #7 in Roanoke, Virginia under the Leadership of Rev. Dr. Shadrack Brown Jr. At 26 years old, he was called upon by his mentor, Pastor Deon Clark to lead as Executive Pastor of the Equation Church, one of the fastest growing churches in Greensboro, North Carolina.
